Belete Aklilu is a talented up-and-coming photographer in Ethiopia. Born and raised in Addis Ababa, ‘Merkato’. He studied Food preparation at CTTI (Catering and Tourism Training Institute) for three yearsin Addis Abeba before settling down as a teacher and supervisor in some private hotel schools. On the suggestion of a friend, he started working as camping cook and tour guide. Since then he traveled to different parts of Ethiopia, often to Kenya and Djibouti with tourists, travelers, photographers, and film makers
It was during these excursions that Belete triggered an interest in photography and began taking pictures with Nikon D3100. He fell in love with photography and has amassed a collection of 20,000 images (his particular interest being portraiture). Belete hopes to organize his first major solo exhibition in the next Ethiopian calendar year involving landscape photography he did in the Rift Valley. He is married and father of two lovely daughters. Thanks again.
